A lovely male of Snow Bunting in the Dolomites

Snow Buntings (Plectrophenax nivalis) are rather regular in the North-eastern Italy, especially along the Pre-Alps, like for example in Lessinia, but they still represent a pretty unexpected arctic visitor: yesterday I had the pleasure to encounter a lovely male!

The bird was feeding along the barren banks of a lake in the Dolomites, but unfortunately the sun had already disappeared behind the mountains, so I could just take some record shots with high ISO.

Despite for this, the encounter was still incredibly exciting, something that surely doesn’t happens everyday!
